Clients must provide one time a negative lab test for G6PD.
Vitamin C is very important for those going through chemotherapy.   There are many studies that show the anti-inflammatory component as well as the immunity component help individuals fight cancer.  Getting Vitamin C in high doses may help individuals with certain types of cancer to combat fatigue, appetite, and sleep disorders.  We do advise you to speak with your oncologist to help decide what is best for you in your particular situation.

Included Vitamins & Minerals:

  • 1 liter of Lactated Ringers or Sterile Water (depends on dosage of Vitamin C)

  • 25-50 grams of Vitamin C

  • 200-400 mg of Magnesium (depends on dosage of Vitamin C)

Why do I need to provide G6PD lab results prior to receiving a high-dose Vitamin C infusion?

Prior to undergoing high-dose Vitamin C infusions (25 g and 50 g), it’s imperative to undergo a G6PD blood test to assess the levels of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), an enzyme vital for red blood cell health. G6PD deficiency, if present, may lead to complications when exposed to substances like Vitamin C at high doses, potentially causing damage to red blood cells. A negative test result indicates no deficiency, and it’s typically a one-time requirement as G6PD deficiency remains consistent over time.

G6PD deficiency can indeed pose life-threatening risks when exposed to high doses of Vitamin C. This deficiency affects the ability of red blood cells to withstand certain oxidative stressors, including Vitamin C in large quantities. In individuals with G6PD deficiency, the administration of high-dose Vitamin C can trigger the destruction of red blood cells, leading to hemolytic anemia and potentially severe complications. Thus, obtaining a negative result on the G6PD blood test before undergoing high-dose Vitamin C infusions is crucial for patient safety and well-being.

There are additional reasons why one can benefit from a high dose Vitamin C infusion.  Administering Vitamin C in higher doses helps with wound healing, boosting the immune system, improves mood, as well as improving iron absorption, lowers blood pressure, and reduces lead toxicity.
Vitamin C aids in transforming iron into a form that can be absorbed.  Vitamin C has been effective in repairing damage caused by lead toxicity.  And Vitamin C has even been known to reduce both systolic and diastolic pressure in adults.
In our regular infusions, you can add 1,000 to 10,000 mg of Vitamin C.  Or you can do a high-dose infusion of Vitamin C of 25,000 mg or 50,000 mg.  In the high dose infusion, due to osmolarity, only magnesium is added.  Magnesium is added to reduce the risk of vein irritation and/or spasm.
If you are wondering if you personally would benefit from a high dose Vitamin C infusion, we highly recommend you consult with your PCP.
